About Suining Central Hospital
Suining Central Hospital (SCH) is a national tertiary class-A comprehensive hospital which integrates medical care, teaching, scientific research, prevention and healthcare as a whole. It has been successively rated as National Civilization Unit, National Advanced Unit of Spiritual Civilization Construction, National Humanistic Care Hospital, National Excellent Baby-friendly Hospital, Provincial Best Civilization Unit, has been honoured with Advanced Collective of Sichuan Province for Fighting against Covid-19 Epidemic, Advanced Collective of Sichuan Province for Eradicating Poverty, Advanced Collective of Medical and Health System of Sichuan Province, May 1st Labor Award of Sichuan Province, and has won Asian Hospital Management Awards for three years in a row.
SCH undertakes clinical teaching tasks for more than 10 medical colleges and universities in and outside Sichuan, and is the affiliated hospital of Chongqing Medical University and North Sichuan Medical College, the Suining clinical college of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the postgraduate joint training institution of Zunyi Medical University. It is among the first batch of National Standardized Residency Training Bases, and is Sichuan Provincial Specialist Doctor Standardized Training Base and Sichuan Provincial Job Transfer Training Base for General Practitioners. In recent years, with the deepening of cooperation between China and foreign countries, SCH’s international exchanges and cooperation have become increasingly frequent. Currently it is the international friendly collaboration hospital of Hospital Universitari Mútua Terrassa, Spain, Centre Hospitalier Universitaire d’Angers, France, and Seven Oaks General Hospital, Canada.
The hospital has established the first academician workstation in Suining, established Precision Oncology Basic Laboratory in cooperation with J. Michael Bishop Institute of Cancer Research, and established the Suining Research Center for Big Data in Health and Medicine, a high standard biological sample bank and a gene sequencing laboratory jointly with University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS). SCH has been included in China’s Top 100 Prefecture-level City Hospitals for seven consecutive years, ranking 61st among China’s prefecture-level city hospitals at present. In National Performance Assessment of Tertiary Public Hospitals, SCH was rated as Grade A+ once and Grade A three times in four consecutive years. The latest Medical Service and Quality Report of Sichuan Province released by the health administration authorities of Sichuan Province ranked 16 clinical specialties, in which SCH’s 10 specialties were ranked in the top 10 and 8 of the 10 specialties were ranked in the top 5.
To trace its history, SCH originated from the “Boji Hospital” founded by British Religious Society of Friends in 1912. It has a history of over 110 years and enjoys a profound cultural foundation and good social reputation. Overview
SCH had been successively named “Third Hospital of North Sichuan Administrative Prefecture”, “People’s Hospital of Suining Special Prefecture”, “Second People’s Hospital of Mianyang Prefecture”, “Suining People’s Hospital”, and was renamed “Suining Central Hospital” in November 2008.
It houses 2100 authorized beds and 3000 beds are actually open at present. Its annual outpatient visits are over 2 million person-time, inpatient discharge over 100 thousand person-time, and surgical procedures nearly 70 thousand person-time. The hospital covers an area of 300 mu with five campuses, which include its Headquarters, Hedong Branch, Infectious Disease Hospital, Rehabilitation Hospital, and Dermatology Hospital.
Talents Cultivation
The hospital presently has 2923 staff members including 2541 professional and technical staff, among whom 567 have senior professional titles, 959 have intermediate professional titles, 723 received master’s degree, 58 received doctor’s degree, and 95 are master student supervisors. 2 experts enjoy State Council Special Allowance; 17 professionals sit as vice presidents, standing committee members, members on national professional societies or associations, and over 200 professionals sit as presidents, vice presidents, standing committee members, members on provincial professional societies or associations.
SCH became a Supporting Institution of National Natural Science Fund Projects in 2019. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, it had 2 research projects being funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NNSFC) and 163 scientific research projects being approved at department level and above; It won 50 science and technology awards at department level and above and obtained 317 patents and software copyrights registration which include 11 invention patents and 4 overseas patents; It had 8283 papers published in professional journals at home and abroad, 215 of which were published in journals indexed by SCI.
Discipline Construction
SCH currently has 39 clinical specialties, 46 wards, 11 medical technology departments, 147 clinical specialty groups, and 30 medical technology specialty groups. Based on the classification and integration of disease systems, the hospital has established Respiratory Disease Center, Cardiovascular Disease Center, Digestive Disease Center, Orthopedic Center, Neurosciences Center, Nephrology Department, Blood Purification Center as well as advanced digital CCM and Operating Room in the Hedong Branch. Over 10000 patients have been treated cumulatively at its HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) Center.
The hospital has led to establish the Society of Minimally-invasive and Noninvasive Medicine of both Sichuan Medical Association and Sichuan Medical Doctor Association, being the first among hospitals at the same level in Sichuan Province to hold president positions in provincial specialty societies. SCH presently boasts 1 National Key Clinical Specialty Construction Project, Suining Branch of State Key Laboratory of Ultrasound in Medicine and Engineering, and has successfully established as the post-doctoral innovative practice base.
